WATCH: Angry Fabio Fognini kicks chair, breaks racket into two during Davis Cup defeat
It’s no secret that Fabio Fognini is a short-tempered guy. On Sunday, though, his anger went on to a different level as Italy lost to France in the Davis Cup World Group quarter-finals.
It happened during the reverse singles rubber against Lucas Pouille, when Fognini – having a set point – failed to convert one. He then let out his frustration on the poor racket, banging it hard on the surface before breaking it apart using his knee.

That was not it. Call it lapse in concentration or something else, Fognini dropped the set in tie-breaker.
Consequently, he kicked a chair in disgust before going on to lose the must-win rubber 2-6 6-1 7-6 6-3.

As for France, they advance to the semi-finals to set up a date with Spain. The winner of that tie will face either Croatia or USA in the summit clash.
