VIDEO: Juan Martin del Potro fumes at spectator during French Open match against Marin Cilic
Juan Martin del Potro is usually a calm guy. That, however, wasn’t the case on Thursday during his French Open quarter-final against Croatia’s Marin Cilic.
With the arena no-so-full, the Argentine was clearly unhappy with noises one of the spectators – seated very close to the court – was making.
His frustration only doubled up after he double-faulted to concede a break before going on to lose the second set 5-7, after having won the first 7-6.
A visibly angry Del Potro then approached the spectator and had a few words to offer, forcing the chair umpire to come down and intervene.
He regained his composure soon after, going on to win the next two sets 6-3 7-5 to set up a quarter-final date with world No. 1 Rafael Nadal.
Nadal, meanwhile, rallied from a set down to pull off a 4-6 6-3 6-2 6-2 win over Diego Schwartzman of Argentina earlier in the day.
