Roger Federer Eyes Eighth Wimbledon Crown Next Season
At 33, he may be one of the oldest players in the men’s circuit right now, but Roger Federer has still not given up on winning another major. Despite failing to pull off a Grand Slam title in the last two years, the Swiss has set his eyes upon winning the prestigious Wimbledon crown next year.
Federer, a 7-time Wimbledon champion already, divulged that his priority in the coming season would be to clinch his record 18th Grand Slam title at the All-England Club in 2015.
“It would probably be Wimbledon. You can never have enough Wimbledons (sic),” Federer was quoted as saying by ClubCall.
“It’s where everything started for me by watching the finals of (Stefan) Edberg and (Boris) Becker. That’s what inspired me to play tennis.”
Besides reaching the finals of the Wimbledon Championships earlier this year (l. Novak Djokovic), Federer has managed to win the coveted tournament from 2003-‘07, ‘09, ‘12.
