Rafael Nadal Pips Roger Federer Twice at IPTL 2015
It was a special occasion for the tennis world on Saturday as two of the greatest players of all time – Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal – stood at the opposite sides of the net at the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) in New Delhi, India. And to the surprise of none, it turned out to be a thrilling affair.
Nadal, representing the home team Indian Aces, notched up a hard-fought 6-5 (7/4) win over the UAE Royals’ Federer. Besides, the Spaniard also joined hands with doubles-specialist Rohan Bopanna to beat the pairing of Federer and Marin Cilic 6-4 in the men’s doubles encounter.
Eventually, the Indian Aces went on to seal a dominating 30-19 conquest of the UAE Royals to extend their lead at the top of the table. Meanwhile, the Royals – who have split their six match-ups so far – will look to better their position when they budge to their home soil for the last leg of the tournament.
