Janko Tipsarevic Off to Winning Start in Bucharest
Former World No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic made a triumphant debut at this year’s BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy after clinching a straight-set win over Thomas Fabbiano of Italy. The Serb pulled off a 6-4 6-3 conquest in the first-round battle that lasted for one hour and 27 minutes on Tuesday.
Fifth-seeded Spaniard Guillermo Gacrcia-Lopez also swiftly moved on to the second round of the tournament, following a dominating 6-2 6-0 victory against little-known Italian Lorenzo Giustino.
Besides, No. 7 seed Jiri Vesely and No. 8 seed Simone Bolelli also overcame their respective opening-round opponents. Whilst the former survived a thrilling second set to brush aside Argentine Diego Schwartzman 6-3 7-6, the latter edged past Andrey Golubev, 7-6 6-4.
