Caroline Wozniacki would sure have realized the meaning of the saying ants in one’s pants.

During her second-round Wimbledon clash against Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova on Court 1, the Danish star complained of a swarm of flying ants disturbing her.

“Every time it’s either coming close to my face or close to my hands it’s like creeping me out. We need to do something,” she told the chair umpire.

“Can we get a spray or something? It’s ridiculous. It’s in my hair and everywhere. We want to be here to focus on playing tennis and not eating bugs.”

Wozniacki, who won her maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open this year, couldn’t really seize the momentum from thereon as the second seed went on to lose 4-6 6-1 5-7.

As for Makarova, she is scheduled to meet Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic in third round.

This is not the first time the grass courts of All England Club have attracted flying ants. At the last year’s Championships, some of the participants including Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson encountered the winging creatures during their matches.
