Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams Power into ASB Classic QFs, Sloane Stephens Upset
Top seeds Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams made smooth progress to the quarterfinals of the WTA ASB Classic in Auckland.
While Wozniacki made light work of American wildcard Taylor Townsend to clinch a 6-1, 7-6 victory, Venus also had little resistance, defeating Japan’s Karumi Nara 6-4, 6-1.
However, American hope Sloane Stephens’s journey at the tournament came to an end, after being shown the door by compatriot Lauren Davis in the other second-round clash.
