The ASB Classic is all set for a blockbuster finale, as tournament favorites Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams are scheduled to cross the swords in the title-clash.

Wozniacki overcame a stiff battle from 4th seed Barbora Zahlavova Strycova to pull off a grueling 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 triumph in the semifinal encounter that lasted for 2 hours and 35 minutes.

Venus, on the contrary, shrugged off modest resistance from fellow American Lauren Davis to swift for a serene 6-0, 6-3 conquest in just over an hour.

Speaking ahead of her match-up with Venus, Wozniacki said that albeit it won’t be an easy outing for her, she is looking forward to add another title to her kitty.

“She’s obviously a tough competitor. She’s played really well this week – very aggressive, serving well, taking the ball early – it won’t be easy, but I’m looking forward to it,” the Dane was quoted as saying by WTA Tennis.

“I’m happy to be in my first final of the year, and hopefully there will be many more to come this year,” she added.

Meanwhile, 4th seeds Shuko Aoyama/Renata Voracova defeated 2nd seeds Andrea Hlavackova/Lucie Hradecka 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals.
