Tournament favorites Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams eased their way into the semifinals of ASB Classic in Auckland after overcoming their respective opponents in the last-eight stage.

Whilst Wozniacki toppled Julia Goerges of Germany 6-4, 6-4; Venus made light work of Russia’s Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-4 in the other quarterfinal match-up on Thursday.

In the other matches, Czech Republic’s Barbora Zahlavova defeated American Coco Vandeweghe 6-4, 7-5; while Lauren Davis overcame Urszula Radwanska 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
