Australian Open 2015 – Wawrinka, Nishikori, Raonic Reach QFs
Defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka continued his love affair with the hard courts Down Under by booking his place in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2015.
The 4th-seeded Swiss fired 15 aces and scored 70 winners en route his hard-fought 7-6 6-4 4-6 7-6 triumph over in-form Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez at the Margaret Court Arena on Monday.
Up next, Wawrinka is scheduled to square-off against 5th-seeded Japanese sensation Kei Nishikori in the last-eight stage, who had no mercy in pulling off a 6-3 6-3 6-3 conquest of 9th seed David Ferrer in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, 8th seed Milos Raonic dodged a bullet off giant-killer Feliciano Lopez, prevailing in a thrilling 6-4 4-6 6-3 6-7 6-3 battle that went on for 3 hours and 5 minutes.
Moving on, the big-serving Canadian will either meet top seed Novak Djokovic for a place in the semifinals.
