Madison Keys rode on her purple patch to cruise into her first ever semifinal appearance at a Grand Slam after clinching a stunning conquest of veteran countrywoman Venus Williams in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2015 on Wednesday.

Keys, 19, looked strong on her serve as she scored 34 winners against 10 off her adversary to pull off a 6-3 4-6 6-4 triumph at the infamous Rod Laver Arena in the quarterfinal battle that lasted for around 2 hours.

Moving on, the American teenager has a hard nut to crack in the last-four stage, where she is drawn to lock horns with top-ranked Serena Williams, who shrugged off little resistance from Slovakian journeywoman Dominika Cibulkova, recording a serene 6-2 6-2 victory.

This will be the first ever meeting between 35th-ranked Keys and No.1 seed Williams, the winner of which advances to the final to face off against Maria Sharapova or Ekaterina Makarova.
