4th seed David Ferrer pulled off the battle of nerves, as he overcame 7th seed Ivo Karlovic 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 in the semifinal encounter on Friday.

The Spaniard survived 30 aces from his big-serving counterpart from Croatia to cruise into the summit clash after a grueling battle that lasted for 2 hours and 31 minutes.

Up next, Ferrer is scheduled to meet 3rd seed Tomas Berdych, who made light work of Italian Andreas Seppi 6-2, 6-3 in the other semifinal encounter.

“So far I’m feeling very good,” Berdych was quoted as saying by the ATP World Tour. “Four very good matches, which I’m happy with,” he continued.

“Some of them were in the tough conditions. Some of them were quite nice and pleasant, but now is the final. That’s the last one and the most important one to go.”

After his shock exit in the early rounds of the singles event, Rafael Nadal made sure that he does not have a fruitless outing in Doha, as the Spaniard clinched the doubles title along with his Argentine partner Juan Monaco.

The Spanish-Argentine duo overcame little resistance from Julian Knowle and Philipp Oswald 6-3, 6-4 in the title-clash.
