Adam Pavlasek Claims Biggest Career-Win as Czech Republic Defeat Italy at Hopman Cup

Czech Republic clinched their second Hopman Cup triumph on the trot by toppling Italy at the Perth Arena on Tuesday.

Earlier, Lucie Safarova pulled off her second consecutive win at the tournament, defeating Italian Flavia Pennetta 7-5, 6-3 to give the Czechs an early 1-0 lead.

Subsequently, World No. 239 Adam Pavlasek clinched the biggest win of his career by stunning 19th-ranked Fabio Fognini 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 in the men’s rubber.

“It was the biggest win in my career and it’s just amazing that I can play with the top players and I was happy for it,” a blissful Pavlasek was quoted as saying by AAP (via

According to reports, the Italian decided to call off the mixed doubles rubber after Fognini complained about heat-related problems.
