Benoit Paire doesn’t shy away from expressing himself on court. And he didn’t ditch his image during his first round match against Dennis Novak at the US Open on Wednesday.

During a changeover, Paire took the unconventional way of changing his t-shirt by ripping it apart. That seems to have spurred him on as he went on to register a 7-6 3-6 7-5 7-6 victory to set up a second-round date with 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.

This is not the first time Paire did this to his t-shirt.

At the very same tournament a couple of years back, the Frenchman vent his frustration on his top-wear during a four-set defeat to Marcos Baghdatis, just a day after entering the press room drinking beer.

Closer to date, Paire embroiled himself in a controversy after a stunning meltdown at the Citi Open in Washington earlier this year. He was later fined $16.5K.
