VIDEO: When Alexander Zverev fell in love with journalist’s accent during Roland Garros presser
Alexander Zverev may be sporting a poker face while playing on court, but it seems he has a good sense of humour too.
The German tennis star was involved in a hilarious exchange with a journalist during a post-match press conference.
Following his 2-6 7-5 4-6 6-1 6-2 win over Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic in the second round of Roland Garros, Zverev was amused by the Yorkshire accent. So much so, that he vowed to come over and play a tournament there in the future.
“Where you from buddy?” Zverev replied to the question.
“Yorkshire,” the journalist said in his manly tone.
“Nice. If they ever make a tournament there I’m coming just because of that accent.”
“Love it. I didn’t understand a word you’re saying.”
“You clearly enjoy your tennis?”
“Not as much as your accent buddy. I love that (chuckles).”
“I will come to all your press conferences now.”
“I love that.”
“If you get to the final we’ll make sure I can ask a question. Because I get edged out.”
“I’ll definitely make sure if I get to the final you’re asking multiple questions.”
“Where you from, buddy?”
