Stanislas Wawrinka, Andy Murray, Kei Nishikori Progress to Roland Garros Fourth Round
2nd seed Andy Murray finally found his foot going right from the word go, as he pulled off a straight-set conquest of big-serving Ivo Karlovic to advance to the fourth round of the Roland Garros on Friday.
Having played out 10 sets in his first two matches, Murray bagged a much-needed easy triumph, winning 6-1 6-4 7-6 to record his 7th win against the same opponent in as many head-to-head meetings.
Defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka also made his way to the round of 16 following a 6-4 6-3 7-5 beating of 30th-seeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy on court Phlippe-Chatrier.
Japan’s Kei Nishikori, the No. 6 seed, prevailed in an epic five-setter against veteran Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 6-3 6-4 3-6 2-6 6-4 that went on for three hours and 21 minutes.
Moving on, Nishikori is scheduled to cross the swords with 9th seed Richard Gasquet, who produced a clinical performance to cruise for a 6-2 7-6 6-2 win against the dangerous Nick Kyrgios.
