Janko Tipsarevic Returns to Action After 7 Months
Former World No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic will bring his 7-month layoff to an end as he has been handed over a wildcard for this week’s Prosperita Open, an ATP Challenger event in Ostrava.
The clay-court event will be held from April 25 to May 1 in Czech city.
Having been on a six-match losing streak – the last of which turned out to be a five-set defeat to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez at the US Open 2015 – Tipsarevic will look to kick-start the new season on a winning note, when he takes on Hans Podlipnik-Castillo in the first round.
The 31-year-old Serb, who has enjoyed a long-term battle with injuries over the years, was barely active last season, participating in only 13 matches (with a 4-9 record) following his comeback from 17-month inactivity in January.
With just 86 points in his kitty, Tipsarevic is now ranked No. 455 in the world rankings.
