Lionel Messi sentenced to 21 months in prison

Barcelona, according to Lionel Messi’s appeals against the 21-month prison sentence in the tax evasion case, have been adjudged of their best player of the game after the dismissed Supreme Court of Spain .

A court in Spain has sentenced Argentinean footballer and his father to last July 16, for a tax evasion of approximately 41 million euros from 2007 to 2009. The Supreme Court dismisses Messi’s appeal against that verdict.

After losing Messi’s appeal, Barcelona said that their important players and their family have full support from the club.

Catalan club spokesman Josep Vives said, “The club is fully supportive of Lionel Messi, his father Jorge Messi and his family.”

Barcelona’s president Joaqué Maria Bartoumu said the star contacted the player’s family, the spokesman said.

Although the appeal is dismissed, but the five-time footballer this year winner will not be in prison.  According to the law of Spain, there is no confinement in the sentence of two years if there is no violent crime.

Messi was refusing to pay tax evasion from the start of the trial in 2016. He said he did not know anything about his financial matters. All the attention to his game.
