It goes without saying that David de Gea is loved for his goalkeeping skills by many. However, the Manchester United star was at the receiving end on Saturday.

Despite keeping a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League tie, de Gea faced criticism – not because of his performance, but because of his new hairstyle.

The Spanish custodian sported a man bun – much to the dismay of his fans, who were quick to detest the new hairdo on the Twitter.

“Shame that @D_DeGea has lost his status as best in the world due to that terrible ponytail,” a tweet read.

One person even went on to say that de Gea’s hairstyle is the worst thing ever. “David De Gea’s hair today is the worst thing I’ve ever seen #MUNTOT #DeGea#badhairday,” read the tweet.

Another user called it outdated. “De Gea you’re about 2 years too late with that haircut!”
