The World Cup 2015 is all set to witness its blockbuster semifinals. First up, New Zealand lock horns with South Africa in Auckland on Tuesday. In the second encounter, defending champions India are slated to cross the swords with tournament favorites and co-hosts Australia in Sydney. Predicting the outcomes of these matches would be a lunacy, for they are the top-ranked teams in the world.

Coming to the second semifinal between Australia and India (on Thursday), cricket pundits Ian Chappell and Brian Lara anticipate an exhilarating encounter, as they trip over their tongues while making their choice. While Australia are the perennial favorites, India have looked solid of late, and are yet to lose their first outing Down Under.

“I think spin bowling is a big advantage to India. I would say quick bowling an advantage to Australia and the batting about even. I would give this game even money at this stage,” NDTV Sports quoted Chappell.

West Indies great Lara, like the majority, also backed both the teams to put up a close affair.

He mentioned: “I think good fast bowling conditions are going to help the Australian fast bowlers, but we can’t discard the Indian pacers. They have got 70 wickets; they’ve bowled out every single team. I think the Indian attack is very well balanced and I agree with Ian that the match is very well-balanced.”
