It’s a known fact that Ravichandran Ashwin doesn’t shy away from trying out new things. And he was at it again during his latest appearance on field.

Playing for Dindigul Dragons against Chepauk Super Gillies in the first match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Ashwin was at his experimental best.

While bowling towards the fag end of the match – when Gillies needed 17 runs to win off two balls, to be precise – Ashwin bowled without any backswing of his right arm whatsoever – making absolutely no use of his left arm either.

Not that he was done with it. The very next ball, he bowled with a side-arm action (Malinga must be a proud man).

Earlier in the match, Ashwin promoted himself to bat at No. 3. The decision turned out to be pure gold as he smashed 19-ball 37 where other batsmen just couldn’t play their shots.

Dragons went on to score 115-9 in 20 overs before restricting Gilles to 105-9.
