Bangladesh got their final World Cup preparations under way with a clinical eight-wicket conquest of West Indies in the second match of the ongoing triangular series, which also involves hosts Ireland.

West Indies, who had annihilated Ireland in the first match, were off to a flyer, courtesy Shai Hope’s 109 and Roston Chase’s 51. They, however, lost wickets in crumbles before being restricted to 261-9 in 50 overs.

For Bangladesh, captain Masrafe Mortaza (3/49) was the wrecker-in-chief, while Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets apiece.

In reply, Bangladesh couldn’t have asked for a better start, having zoomed their way to 144 without loss in the 26th over. West Indies did get a couple of breakthroughs, but those were not enough to stop Bangladesh from chasing down the target in just 45 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan, who scored run-a-ball 61 not out, hit an out-of-stadium maximum during his knock.
