That MS Dhoni is one of the finest wicket-keepers ever is perhaps undebatable, but if his latest outing behind the wickets is anything to go by, he’s on a different level altogether.

Leading Chennai Super Kings against Delhi Capitals in an Indian Premier League contest on Wednesday night, Dhoni showed off his prowess with the gloves on by effecting a couple of stunning stumpings.

First, he got rid of Chris Morris before sending back Shreyas Iyer – both off Ravindra Jadeja in the 12th over of Delhi’s innings.

And guess what? Both the players hadn’t even stepped out, with Dhoni knocking off the bails in the blink of the eye when the batsmen had their feet lifted for a millisecond.

As commentator Harsha Bhogle summed it up in his tweet, “Dhoni and the stumpings. A spinner’s love story.”

Earlier in the day, Dhoni proved he’s still a hit with the bat in hand as he smashed four fours and three sixes en route an unbeaten 22-ball 44.

His knock powered Chennai to 179-4 in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi could only manage 99 on board, thanks to some fine exhibition of spin bowling from Imran Tahir (4/12) and Jadeja (3/9).

By the virtue of this win, Chennai have reclaimed the top spot in standings, with Delhi slipping to No. 2.
