If you recently happened to visit the Lord’s cricket stadium and spotted Virat Kohli posing with his bat raised and front foot ahead, you probably got to see it again.

For, it wasn’t Virat Kohli. It was a wax statue of the Indian captain that was unveiled to mark the beginning of ICC 2019 World Cup that gets under way on Thursday.

In a photo that went viral on social media, the statue can be seen wearing Team India’s official kit, which was reportedly donated by Kohli himself.

The wax figure will now be shifted to London’s Madame Tussauds, where Kohli will be on display alongside some of the other renowned sportsmen like Sachin Tendulkar, Mo Farah and Usain Bolt among the others.

“Cricket fever is set to sweep the nation in the coming weeks so what better way to unveil our new figure of Virat Kohli than with the help of our neighbours at Lord’s,” Steve Davies, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, was quoted as saying by PTI.

“We hope that cricket fans will enjoy not only watching their hero on the pitch but taking to the crease with him here at Madame Tussauds London.”

Kohli and Co. are scheduled to open their campaign against South Africa on June 5.
