Yuvraj Singh looked scratchy in every sense of the word as he made a forgettable debut at the Global Canada T20, just days after announcing his retirement from international cricket.

Captaining Toronto Nationals against Vancouver Knights in the tournament opener on Thursday, the former Indian star struggled en route to scoring 14 runs off 27 balls.

For the numbers, the 37-year-old couldn’t even score even one boundary during his entire stay.

To make things worse, Yuvraj nicked one off Rizwan Cheema that Knights wicket-keeper failed to collect. However, the ball deflected off the ’keeper’s gloves and hit the stumps during the same time as Yuvraj lost his balance.

The 37-year-old didn’t bother to wait for the umpire’s decision as he started to walk off, a decision he must have regretted as replays showed he wa well in when the bails were dislodged.

Nationals went on to score 159-5 in 20 overs, thanks to late exploits from Heinrich Klaasen (41 from 20 balls) and Kieron Pollard (30 from 13 balls).

The duo’s effort, however, went in vain as Knight rode on the unbeaten 126-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Chadwick Walton (59) and Rassie van der Dussen (65) to chase down the target in 17.2 overs.
