Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni continued his rich vein of form as he smashed three sixes en route to an unbeaten 29-ball 37 against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 1 of Indian Premier League on Tuesday night.

At 65 for 4 in about 12 overs, Chennai needed a partnership to get going to get to a respectable total. Dhoni, along with Ambati Rayudu (42 not out), did just that to power the hosts to 131-4 in 20 overs on a wicket that offered loads of turn to spinners.

And in the 19th over of the match, Dhoni showed off he’s still got it by smashing a couple of monstrous maximums off Lasith Malinga, with one of them going on to land 92 metres away from the pitch (even as it looked even bigger).

Despite the skipper’s efforts, Mumbai rode on Suryakumar Yadav’s 54-ball 71 to chase down the target with 9 balls and six wickets to spare, and become the first team to qualify for the final.

Chennai will now face the winner of the eliminator between Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderaba. The winner of the contest will go on to face Mumbai in the title clash, scheduled to be held on May 12.
