VIDEO: Glenn Maxwell sends social media into frenzy after switch-hit six in Big Bash League

Melbourne Stars captain Glenn Maxwell was at his usual best as he put on a show against Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League on Monday morning.
The Australian star smashed 47 runs off 31 balls, a knock that included five sixes but no fours. But off all those maximums, if there was one that stood out, it was the one off lef-arm spinner Clive Rose.
In the 13th over of Melbourne’s innings, right-handed Maxwell turned lefty to smash one over extra cover (or shall we call it deep mid-wicket?), a shot that is called switch-hit in cricketing parlance.
No wonder, his fans couldn’t believe their eyes. “Glenn Maxwell you are simply a freak! These shots should be impossible to play!!” one person tweeted.
“Glenn Maxwell has just hit a switch hit onto Church St and by a fair way is the best cricket shot I’ve ever seen live,” another one wrote.
Melbourne went on to put up 155-5 in 20 overs after Maxwell was trapped leg before wicket by fast bowler Jofra Archer.
In response, Hobart rode on 37-ball 52 from star opener D’Arcy Short as they chased down the target with six wickets in hand and eight balls to spare.
