Tri-Series: David Warner Helps Australia Clinch Bonus Point Win over England
Australia took an early lead in the triangular series after pulling off a dominating 7-wicket conquest of England at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday.
Earlier, England’s newly-appointed captain, Eoin Morgan, won the toss and decided to bat first, which eventually proved to be the wrong decision as the touring team was restricted to 234 runs; with the skipper himself being the top-scorer with 121 runs.
In response, the hosts were guided by explosive opener David Warner throughout as they chased down the target with 3 wickets to spare within 40 overs to bag a bonus point early on in the series.
Even Australian skipper, George Bailey, touted their performance as outstanding. “Outstanding, wasn’t it?,” he reflected in the post-match presentation, heaping praise upon his teammates’ execution of skills.
Up next, Australia square-off against India in the second rubber of the series on Sunday.
