Sussex and Hampshire are the two teams in Royal London One Day Cup tournament. Sussex can be considered as one of the most potential team in every season and they have also previous good record. Though, since 2014 not Sussex neither Hampshire did not able to take the title of the tournament but both of them have good records earlier. The tournament was played with another formation earlier but since 2014, the overs per side was increased and now, the tournament format is limited overs. Basically Royal London One Day Cup is a first class county cricket competition based in England and Wales. In the tournament, Hampshire and Sussex have participated from South Group. In their last head to head battle, Sussex faced defeat by 2 wickets against Hampshire.

Hampshire got the first victory in their inaugural match in the tournament but it was not the first match of Sussex. Team Sussex played their 2nd match in the ongoing season and they have still three matches to go. In their first match, Sussex tested the glory of the victory against Kent Spitfires.

As per the schedule, each participant in the tournament from each group will play five group stage matches and at the end of group level competition top three teams from each group will qualify for the next knockout round. So, facing a defeat was not good for Sussex.

The match between Sussex and Hampshire took place in 19th May, 2018 at County Ground, Hove. In the match, Sussex won the toss and let Hampshire to bowl first. As usual they took bat which seemed to be right for Sussex.

Luke Wells and Luke Wright started the innings for Sussex. Wells scored only 5 runs but Wright and Harry Finch played well. They jointly added more than 100 runs. Wright was gone with 56 runs but Finch made a century. He scored 108 runs highest for the team. Rest players added few more runs but they were not in significant rate. In 49.3 overs team Sussex lost all ten wickets and scored 250 runs so far. Gareth Berg took three wickets highest where Topley and Fidel took two wickets each for the team Hampshire.

Hashim Amla scored 63 runs while came to open the innings for Hampshire but rest top orders were failed. Lewis and Gareth basically played well. Lewis scored 41 runs and Gareth scored highest 65 runs for the team. In 49.2 overs team Hampshire got the victory dramatically.
