Stuart Binny Replaces Injured Varun Aaron for Sri Lanka ODIs

India’s fast-bowler Varun Aaron’s chances for the World Cup 2015 Down Under suffered a huge setback after he was ruled out of the second and the third match of the ongoing 5-match one-day international series against Sri Lanka due a leg injury.

Aaron, 25, was compelled to go off the field after bowling just 25 balls during the first match at Cuttack after injuring his leg.

“Varun is with the team. He will be monitored by the physios, and based on the assessment at the moment he will recover in two weeks’ time,” Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Sanjay Patel, informed ESPNcricinfo.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Stuart Binny has been called in as the replacement of Aaron. “We have decided to let him (Aaron) remain with the team only so that the physio can take care of him. That’s why in place of him, we have picked Binny,” added Patel.

“Varun Aaron is injured, and he has been replaced by Stuart Binny in the Indian team for the second and third games of the Micromax Cup India vs Sri Lanka ODI Series 2014,” the BCCI press release confirmed (via
