There was a time when the likes of Virender Sehwag and Inzamam-ul-Haq were known for their lethargic running between the wickets.

And just when it looked very difficult to find their modern-day equivalent – given the importance given to fitness these days – Rahkeem Cornwall has drawn some comparison to the duo; something he wouldn’t be very proud of.

During a Caribbean Premier League clash between St Lucia Zouks and Guyana Amazon Warriors on Wednesday, Cornwall was involved in a comical run-out.

After opening the batting for St Lucia, the 140-kilogram all-rounder was struggling to middle the ball. His scratchy knock eventually came to an end after he failed to ground his bat inside the crease despite reaching well before time, resulting in a hilarious run-out.

No wonder, commentator Danny Morrison was quite amused. “Rahkeem you’ve got to slide the blade,” he said on air. “He’d better go back to the hotel and hide.”

Cornwall, who made his international debut very recently during West Indies’ home series against India, didn’t have much to contribute with the ball either as he went wicket-less in his two overs.

Guyana went on to chase St Lucia’s 162-run target with eight wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare, thanks to an unbeaten 59-ball 81 from opener Brandon King.
