Mumbai Indians ruled out from group stage

The 55th match in ongoing season of Indian Premier League 2018 executed between Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians. The match was not important for Delhi Daredevils where they were eliminated from the group stage of IPL earlier. But it was much important game for the defending champion Mumbai Indians. If they did able to manage victory in their last group stage match, they could get a chance to qualify for playoff round. But now, Mumbai Indians ruled out from group stage by facing defeat against Delhi Daredevils.

It seems that Delhi Daredevils was a bad luck for Mumbai Indians. In the ongoing season of IPL, MI faced DD twice times and in both times they faced defeat. Earlier in their first meeting between them which took place at the home venue of Mumbai, there DD won the first time. But in the 2nd meeting which was so important for MI and they also wanted to take revenge of the same opponent but only for a little, they faced the second defeat.

Earlier, two teams Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have qualified for the playoff round and there were space for two more teams. Mumbai Indians missed the chance as well. In 20th May, 2018 the second head to head battle between Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians was executed. The match took place at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. The local team Delhi Daredevils won the toss and decided to bat first.

Shaw and Maxwell opened the innings for Delhi Daredevils. Openers did not do much well but in 30 runs their partnership was broken. Shaw scored 12 runs and Maxwell scored 22 runs so far. Later, captain Iyer came but he scored only 6 runs. Pant and Shankar played well and made a good partnership. Pant scored 64 runs highest and Shankar scored 43 runs respectively. By losing four wickets Delhi Daredevils scored 174 runs in 20 overs. Bowers of Mumbai Indians did not do great but three of them took a wicket each for the team.

Came to chase 174 runs, Mumbai Indians lost their opener Yadav in just 12 runs. Lewis played a bith well. He scored 48 runs highest. Through his score, he scored 3000 runs in T20 competition. Lower order players like Pandya and Cutting added few more runs but that was not enough. In 163 runs the team Mumbai Indians lost all wickets. They had still three balls in hand. Lamichhane, Patel and Mishra took three wickets each for the team DD.
