Mohammed Hafeez has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after a video of a former cricketer driving a van for survival went viral online.

Fazal Subhan, who played for Pakistan U-19 and ‘A’ side, had been struggling to make both ends meet after the closing of departmental cricket, according to multiple media reports.

Consequently, he was forced to drive a van that helps him make about 30-35K rupees, far less than 1 lakh rupees that he would make in his department.

“So sad Really , Like him & Many others r suffering, New system wil look after 200 players but 1000s of crickters & management staff r Unemployed bcos of this new model (sic),” Hafeez wrote to his 2.5 million followers.

“I dont know who wil take the responsibility of this unemployment of cricket fraternity (sic).”

Narrating his struggle, Subhan said: “Yes, I drive this on rent. Sometimes, I make some money, sometimes not too much… there’s no work for 10 days.”

Subhan, now 31, featured in 40 first-class, 29 List A and six T20s.
