Before the start of the tournament, not many considered India one of the favorites to win the World Cup 2015, for the conditions Down Under are poles apart from that of the sub-continent. However, with 7 wins in a row that have seen them through to the semifinals, India are a force to reckon in the remainder of the week.

Despite losing the Test series and the Triangular series ahead of the sport’s mega event, India have been successful in turning the tables around. This factor has given them a big reason to smile, as they set their eyes upon pulling off consecutive World Cups.

Virat Kohli, India’s vice-captain, is one of those firm believers, who expect the defending champions to clear their semifinal hurdle (against Australia) and then the final hindrance (against New Zealand) to clinch back-to-back coveted titles this time around.

Speaking to BCCI.TV ahead of India’s semifinal encounter, Kohli stated: “This World Cup is a great opportunity for us to do something that has never been done in Indian cricket, which is to win it back to back. Especially in conditions away from home, not many people gave us a chance to even qualify.

“But we have won seven games in a row. People are looking at us as favorites now. The experience has been wonderful so far and if we end up winning it on that day, it will be a memory to cherish all my life.”
