England scored 302 runs in 1st innings at the Gabba

The Gabba is one of the renowned cricket ground in Australia which is the host venue of the first test of Ashes in 2017/18 season. England team won the toss and decided to bat here and in the 1st day, they faced batting collapsed and lost total four wickets in 163 runs. But in the 2nd day of the test, they could not add much figure but England scored 302 runs in 1st innings at the Gabba finally. Australian bowlers were destructive in the second day and took rest six wickets so early. Before lunch break, team England got packet.

In the opening day of the match, Mark Stoneman scored 53 runs and James Vince played a brilliant innings. He scored highest 83 runs but unfortunately got run out. However, they finished the 1st day by losing four wickets. In second day Dawid Malan and Moeen Ali opened the innings against and both added few more runs to the scoreboard. Dawid Malan lasted long and scored 56 runs where Moeen Ali scored 38 runs so far. Rest players were almost disappointing. Stuart Broad scored 20 runs and Jake Ball scored 15 runs for the English team. By scoring total 302 runs in 116.4 overs, team England lost their all wickets. Aussie bowlers were quite successful and skipper Steve Smith used just four bowlers where all of them got wicket. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took three wickets each where Nathan Lyon took two wickets so far.

According to the last news from the Gabba, Australia finished the 2nd day by losing 4 wickets and it means that they also faced batting disaster in 1st innings. In just 7 runs, they lost opener Cameron Bancroft who scored just 5 runs. 2nd wicket partnership just added few runs and broken in 30 runs. Within 76 runs, Australia lost their top four wickets. But just Australian captain Steven Smith played well and remained unbeaten in 2nd day. He is on the crease with highest 64 runs so far with Shaun Marsh who has scored 44 runs so far. Joe Root has used six bowlers to make breakthrough and he is quite successful indeed. James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Moeen Ali and Jake Ball took one wicket each for the team.

It is just the first match where the Ashes series consists of five matches and to secure victory, there is no other way but to manage the victory in first match.
