Chief selector MSK Prasad reveals how MS Dhoni reacted when he was dropped from T20Is
Last week, MS Dhoni was dropped from India’s Twenty20 International squad against West Indies and Australia in what was a huge decision by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
It was a huge disappointment for his fans. The World Cup-winning captain has, after all, been a regular in limited overs action ever since he pulled the plugs on his Test career back in 2014.
Officials later revealed that the plan was to have a second wicket-keeper option available, which is why – in a quest to try out the young and promising Rishabh Pant and in-form Dinesh Karthik – the selectors took the massive step.
Now, BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has revealed how Dhoni reacted on being told their decision.
“I myself spoke to MS and I must say he was most gracious,” Prasad was quoted as saying by Telegraph India.
He added: “I explained our need to look at a second ’keeper and MS graciously supported the idea.
“Please don’t make it such a big issue… Please.”
He certainly knows how to be gracious in defeat… both on and off the field.
