Super Smash which i also known as Burger King Super Smash is a domestic T20 cricket competition based in New Zealand. It was first staged in 2005/06 and since then used to stage in every calendar year. Already twelve seasons of the competition have passed successfully and it is the 13th season of Super Smash that is going on. In the 12th match of the tournament, Canterbury won by 6 wickets against Otago.

Canterbury Kings and Otago Volts both teams have seen the title of Super Smash where Otago won it twice and Canterbury Kings won once. Canterbury is the defending champion of Super Smash and in good form in the season as well.

However, Since the beginning of the tournament in 2005/06, total six franchise teams used to participate in Super Smash and in the ongoing season, it remains the same. However, Otago is passing very worst time in the season though once they won the title twice times. So, it was not shame to face defeat against the current champion at all.

The 12th match between Otago and Canterbury was taken place in 26th December, 2017 and the host venue was Molyneux Park, Alexandra. John Bromley and Chris Gaffaney were the field umpires of the game. In the match, Otago won the toss and decided to bat first. However, came to do so team Otago Volts scored 144 runs by losing nine wickets in selected 20 overs. Rob Nicol scored highest 65 runs for the team. In return, Canterbury came to chase the score and in 18.1 overs they reached the target by losing just four wickets. Nick Kwant scored highest 48 runs so far.

Otago started their innings with captain Nicol and Rutherford. But in seven runs, Rutherford was gone. Skipper Nicol tried to make long lasting partnership but at the end of the crease the player used to change gradually. Neesham scored 10 runs, Craig scored 19 runs, Hicks scored 19 runs. However, captain Nico played till the last and remained not out with 65 runs. Team Otago total lost nine wickets. Ellis took highest five wickets for Canterbury.

Canterbury started their innings very good. Pollard and Kwant started their innings where Kwant was the skipper of the team. Openers added 43 runs when Pollard was gone with 20 runs. Top order two players Bowes and Carter were gone early with 3 runs each. Later, McConchie made a partnership with Kwant and till the end McConchie and Fletcher remained not out. Both of them scored 31 runs each. In 18.1 overs they claimed the victory. In the meantime, they lost just four wickets.
