Australia pulled off a battle of nerves to edge South Africa by 2 wickets in the third and final T20I at Sydney on Sunday to win the 3-match series, 2-1.

Earlier, Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bowl first, which eventually proved to be the right decision as the hosts did a spectacular job to restrict South Africa to 145-6 in 20 overs.

In reply, Australia got off to a flying start, but lost the control in the middle overs. However, a sensible knock from Cameron White (41*) to finish the things off with 1 ball to spare.

“It got a little bit of twitchy at the end,” CricBuzz quoted White, who was adjudged the Man of the Match. “Chasing 140 on this most of the times would’ve been comfortable, but it got close.

“I thought we bowled really well, back end of the innings we bowled into the wicket and restricted them. The wicket played well when we batted.

“It’s nice to be making runs. That’s my job as a batsman and I will keep doing that.”

Up next, both the teams are scheduled to cross the swords in the 5-match one-day international series.
