Burger King Super Smash which is a domestic T20 league cricket competition in New Zealand and it was administered by New Zealand Cricket since the beginnings. Earlier, it was known by another name. The name of the competition has been changed total five times and now it is known by Burger King Super Smash. It is the 13th season of Super Smash that is going on where total six participants have participated. In the 18th match of the tournament, Auckland defeated Canterbury by 7 runs.

Auckland Aces is the most successful franchise team in the competition which team played final total seven times highest and won it four times so far. And their competitor Canterbury Kings also tasted the title of Super Smash.

In the ongoing season of Super Smash, both teams are in good form and so, their head to head battle was so contesting. It was the first match of Super Smash in the new year 2018 which was taken place in 1st January, 2018. Hagley Oval, Christchurch was the host arena of the match. Auckland won the toss and let Canterbury to bowl first. So, came to bat Auckland scored 168 runs by losing five wickets in 20 overs. The score was good but it could be chased. Unfortunately Canterbury Kings failed to chase it and finished their score with 161 runs. They lost eight wickets in the meantime. So, Auckland won by 7 runs.

Auckland started their innings with Horne and Solia but openers failed to make any long partnership but in 8 runs Solia was gone. In 20 runs second wicket Horne was out as well. Later, Chapman and skipper Cachopa made almost 100 runs partnership where skipper was gone with 27 runs. Chapman played well and made a brilliant century out there. He scored 101 runs in 58 balls where he made three 4’s and six 6’s. Rest players added few runs and so, finally their innings finished with 168 runs. Nuttall and Ellis took two wickets for Canterbury.

Later, came to chase Canterbury started their innings with Nicholls and Pollard. Openers added only 21 runs when Nicholls was gone with 10 runs. Pollard was gone by scoring 18 runs as well. Bowes and Latham played almost good where Bowes scored 28 runs and Latham scored highest 46 runs. Basically, they lost wickets so early and later, they had no hard hitter who could led the team to victory. In 20 overs, their innings finished with 161 runs by losing eight wickets. Lister and Nethula took two wickets each for Auckland.
