Afghanistan promoted to Qualifier final

Afghanistan which team was placed into group B in the tournament of ICC World Cup Qualifier 2018 along with four other teams. They failed to show very impressive performance in group stage but finally jumped to the playoff round as one the three teams from a group. They finished group stage by standing on the 3rd position on the point table. In their group, top two teams were Zimbabwe and Scotland. But in the Super Six round, Afghan team found their strength back and win all three matches there. As a result, Afghanistan promoted to Qualifier final  and in that case their opponent will be West Indies in final. The final match will be executed in 25th March, 2018.

On the other hand, the opponent team of Afghanistan was Ireland which was placed into group A and finished group stage with 2nd position. Ireland is almost a good cricket team and worthy of taking part in ICC World Cup. Though, their entrance in Super Six were not good. They played three matches here like rest of the teams but managed only one victory which was against Scotland. Now, in the last match of Super Six round, they faced Afghanistan. If they could manage another victory, they would be qualified for the next World Cup. But they failed to do so and against Afghanistan, Irish team was lost by five wickets.

The match between Ireland and Afghanistan was the 33rd match of the tournament which was also the last match in Super Six round. The match defined many things. Through the match Afghanistan secured their place in upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 and also promoted to the final. The match was executed in 23rd March, 2018 at Harare. Irish player Niall O’Brien played his 100th ODI through the match. However, earlier in 23rd March Ireland won the toss and decided to bat first. Irish team wanted to present a big score but finally failed. They played full 50 overs but scored only 209 runs. They lost seven wickets where Rashid Khan took three wickets for Afghan team. For Ireland Paul Stirling scored 55 runs highest so far.

Later, Afghanistan came to chase the score which was presented by Ireland. Openers did their jobs well where opening partnership added 86 runs to the scoreboard. Shahzad scored 54 runs where Naib scored 45 runs for the team. They lost five wickets to chase the score where most of the players added almost few runs so far. In 49.1 overs Afghanistan scored 213 runs and beat Ireland.
