Afghanistan came to bat and scored 238 runs by losing 9 wickets in 50 overs. Nasir Jamal scored 53 runs for Afghan team. On the other hand, Ireland got packet so early and scored just 100 runs. They played 31.4 overs. William Porterfield scored highest 35 runs for the team Ireland. So, first ODI was won by Afghanistan by 138 runs. Consisted of three matches series, Afghan led the tournament at first by 1 – 0. To secure the series, they just needed to manage another victory.

It was a day/ night competition where Javed Ahmadi and Ihsanullah opened the innings for Afghanistan. But the openers added just 12 runs when their partnership was broken. Two openers just scored 10 runs each. Later in 3rd wicket partnership between Rahmat and Nasir, they added more than 100 runs and took the team to a good total.
