Adelaide Strikers beat Thunder by 25 runs

Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder are the two top rated franchise teams in ongoing season of Big Bash League 2017/18. Both teams have started the new 7th season of BBL with Victory. But now after almost half way passed in the season, Adelaide Strikers is in top position on the BBL point table where Sydney Thunder is in 5th position. This two giant teams have faced against each other earlier today. It was the 2nd meeting in the season. There Adelaide Strikers beat Thunder by 25 runs. Through the victory, Adelaide Strikers secured their top position on the point table. Though, it will work just in group stage match and it would perhaps that Strikers would qualify for knockout phase easily.

Adelaide Strikers beat Thunder by 25 runs

The match between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers are the 20th match of the season of Big Bash League which is also the last match of round five. The match between them was taken place in 7th January, 2018 and it was hosted at Spotless Stadium, Sydney.

Earlier the match, Adelaide Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first instead of bowling. The decision was not right and they could suffer for that. At the ground, first bowling team used to win most of the times. However, came to bat Adelaide Strikers scored 158 runs in 20 overs. They lost seven wickets to made the score. Their top scorer was Colin Ingram who scored 48 runs. But Sydney Thunder could not chase the score but finished their innings by scoring 133 runs. They lost nine wickets in the meantime. So, Adelaide Strikers won by 25 runs.

Carey and weatherald started the innings for Strikers but their partnership did not last long. In 29 runs Weatherald was gone who scored 15 runs. Later, captain Head came up but scored just 12 runs. Carey scored 34 runs so far. Just Ingram played a bit well but rest players did not give him proper company. Most of the players though scored two figure runs but they are no enough. Finally, their innings ended up with 158 runs. They lost seven wickets in 20 overs. Fawad Ahmed took three wickets highest and Sandhu took two wickets so far for Thunder.

Patterson and Buttler started the innings for Thunder very well. Openers added 45 runs to the scoreboard when Buttler was gone with 21 runs. Patterson scored 29 runs so far. Rest players did not make longer innings but Nair scored 10 runs, Rohrer scored 29 runs for Sydney Thunder. They could not chase such score but finished their innings in 133 runs. Neser took three wickets, Rashid Khan took two wickets and Siddle took two wickets for Strikers.
