6th ODI: Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor Script Series Win for NZ against SL
New Zealand continued their dominating run in the ongoing One-Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka by recording a 120-run triumph in the penultimate encounter of the 7-match series to cruise for an unassailable 4-1 lead at Dunedin on Sunday.
Earlier, the hosts won the toss and decided to bat first. Riding on spectacular knocks from Kane Williamson (97) and Ross Taylor (96) – ably supported by a 28-ball 40 from Corey Anderson – New Zealand amassed 315-8 in their 50 overs quota.
In response, the Sri Lankan batsmen were oblivious against a lethal kiwi bowling unit. Despite Kumar Sangakkara (81) piling up runs from one end, the touring team could hardly impress with the willow, eventually getting all-out for 195 in the 41st over of the match.
For New Zealand, Corey Anderson (4/52) was the pick of the bowlers. The southpaw was subsequently adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Up next, the two teams now lock horns in a dead rubber on Thursday.
