Rohit Sharma finally shrugged off his poor run in South Africa with a match-winning century in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday. But, it wasn’t all smooth in the middle for the Indian batsman.

Sharma’s 17th ODI hundred came at the expense of a couple of run-outs – both top-order batsmen Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, in 26th and 37th over of the innings, respectively.

However, the opening batsman held one end firm as he went on to score a 126-ball 115 to propel India’s total to a 274-7, before the visitors bundled out South Africa for just 201 runs.

During the post-match press conference, Sharma was asked why there weren’t any special celebrations after his ton. His answer took the journalists by surprise, leaving them in splits.

“Two batsmen (Kohli and Rahane) were run out before this (ton) in front of me. So, I was not in a mood to celebrate my hundred,” the 30-year-old said in his usual easy-going style.

Meanwhile, India will look to sign off the series on a high when they take on South Africa again, in the sixth and final encounter, scheduled to be held in Centurion on February 16.

The two teams will then contest in a three-match T20 series, beginning February 18.
