Boxer Manny Pacquiao Confirms Comeback Fight Against Jessie Vargas
Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao has confirmed his return date for November 5. The eight-division champion will trade punches with reigning WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas.
Pacquiao (58-6-2) had announced his retirement after winning the vacant WBO International and lineal welterweight titles by scoring a unanimous decision win over Timothy Bradley in April this year.
But, the decorated pugilist is slated to make his return to the ring against American Vergas (27-1-0), reports Sky Sports.
“Yes, the fight is on. I have agreed to a November 5 fight with reigning WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas,” the 37-year-old was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
He added: “Boxing is my passion. I miss what I’d been doing inside the gym and atop the ring.”
Vargas, 27, promises to be a stern test for Pacquiao, given that the former holds a five-inch height advantage.
The American title-holder is also known for being the former WBA and IBO super lightweight champion.
