Royal Rumble is one among the four big Pay per views. The other three are Wrestlemania, Summerslam and Survivor Series. However the biggest one is wrestlemania. In addition to Wrestlemania, the WWE present several other annual spectaculars over pay-per-view cable television. Each has its unique blend of action & drama. And like wrestlemania, each has created major turning points in WWE.

Starting in January 1988, the WWE’s Royal Rumble is a unique event in wrestling. It’s highlight is a 30-man battle royal. Wrestlers are eliminated by being ousted from the ring over the top rope. The last man in the ring is the winner. Given that it is every man for himself, there are no friends or allies in the Royal Rumble’s battle royal. Even tag team partners have gone at one another. They draw numbers by chance. The numbers for each wrestlers are randomly selected. Nos.1 & 2 enter the ring first. Every two minutes after that, another wrestler enters, until the man who drew No. 30 is the last man to join the fray. The only two Royal Rumble in the PPV consists of 20 entrants in 1988 & 40 entrants in 2011. Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, John Cena & Batista are the four such wrestlers who have won twice in the Royal Rumble. The one and only who have won the Royal Rumble thrice is ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

The winner of the Royal Rumble gets a title shot at WrestleMania.
