Eric Djemba Djemba worst signing by Manchester United#10 Eric Djemba Djemba (Manchester United)

Djamba Djamba was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson to fill the gap left by the departure of Roy keene but boy he struggle in premier league.

To date he remains one of the worst signings Sir Alex has made. Within a year of singning him United were willing to offload and sold him to Aston Villa for around £2 million. But that did not change his performances.

Corrado Grabbi worst blackburn signing#9 Corrado Grabbi (Blackburn Rovers)

Italian who came through Juventus youth system was signed by blackburn rovers for club record fee but Italian strker failed to match the pace of premier league.

He struggled big time in his Blackburn career and was offloaded on loan couple of times. He made 30 appearences for the club scoring only 2 goals.

Ade Akinbiyi worst premier league signing#8 Ade Akinbiyi (Leicester City)

One of the worst finisher Premier league has seen, Akinbiye had the ability but could not cut it in english top flight when Leicester City signed him for around £5.5 million, he had the pace but his finishing was absolute awful.

He scored 13 goals in 78 appearences and was constanly booed by home fans. Crystal Palace bought him from the foxes for fraction of the fee he was first signed for.

#7 Andrea Silenzi (Nottingham Forest)

The first Italian to play in the premier league, Silenzi signed for Nottingham Forrest but never brought his finishing skills to england.

From the start of his career in premier league he was found out, could not score a single goal having played in 12 games for the forest side. Manager had enough, ripped his contract apart and sent him on loan.

#6 Bosko Balaban (Aston Villa)

Was a quality player and he came to england after a very successfull goal scoring season in his native country. Aston Villa bought him for around £5.8 million but he like many other new comers in premier league struggle to get on grips with pace and power needed in premier league.

Played in 9 matches missed countless chances never scored eventualy loaned out. To his credit he rediscovered his goal scoring powers in belgian league and later for national side.

#5 Massimo Taibi (Manchester United)

Manchester United struggled to find replacment for their legendary keeper Peter Schmeichel, they bought a few goalkeepers after schmiechal’s retirment but none of them could provide durability what United are used too.

Taibo, the italian shot stopper was bought for £4.5 million but he was way down the standard for premier league and specialy of Manchester United. Played only 4 games and interestingly made silly mistakes in all of them. check out his youtube video where Matt Le Tiesser is making a fool out him.

#4 Thomas Brolin (Leeds United)

Leeds United signed Brolin for £4.5 million in 1995 from Parma, but Premier league has the history of being too difficult for foreign strikers as they struggle to adapt in the league and Brolin suffered the same fate. Swedish striker came with a reputation of prolifc goal scorer both for club Parma and country.

Leeds and Premier league fans were hoping that he will replicate the same success in premier league but instead he put on weight and some more weight which lead to injuries and absenties, disappeared from the england top flight quicker than he came (well he retired at the age of just 28)

#3 Marco Boogers (West Ham)

Now the next three are interesting, All the premier league clubs have extensive scouting network and they would like to make sure they know what they are buying, this trend started when West Ham bought Boogers for £1 million in 1995 from Spartak Rotterdam.

The dutchman came in with prolific goal scoring records but failed miserably. He played only 4 games and his most notable contribution was that silly tackle on Gary Neville which earned him a straight red.

#2 Savio Nsereko (West Ham)

Nsereko has to be the worst player not only in the premier league but the world has seen, and thats because West Ham payed £9 million for his services in 2009.

But he failed to deliver, played 10 games for West Ham failed to score and Hammers sold him to Fiorentina where he struggled even more and moved to lower divisions in 6 different countries. So to-date he has played 40 odd games for 8 clubs in 6 different countries and only scored 1 goal to make matters worse he was reportedly kidnapped.

#1 Ali Dia (Southampton)

You can argue all your like about this ranking from 2- 10 but there is no doubt that Alia Dia is destined to be no.1 worst player the premier league will see, Dia cheated Southampton in believing he is cousin of former player of the year (George Weah) and has played for cameroon national side scoring two goals.

Aparently someone called Graeme Souness pretending to be George Weah and recommended Ali Dia. Souness bought the scam and signed Ali, he got his first chance in premier league football coming on as a substitute and it was embarrassing. check out the video below.
