India’s Sania Mirza, the top-ranked women’s doubles player in the world, is locked in the horns of dilemma over choosing her male counterpart for the mixed doubles event at the next year’s Rio Olympics.

With both Rohan Bopanna (No. 12) and Leander Paes (No. 33) in fray, it has become a perplexing situation for Mirza, who faced a similar sort of a quandary at the 2012 London Olympics where she eventually joined hands with the latter.

However, she’s optimist that there would not be any “mess” this time around, and that she would want to take a call on whom she wants to pair up with.

“The situation is the same this time too,” Mirza was quoted as saying by TOI. “There aren’t too many women players. Hopefully there won’t be a mess. I am No. 1 in the world and I’m guessing that the call will be mine as to whom I would like to play with.

“We still have close to a year. I have to see who’s playing how, lot of factors need to be considered.”

Mirza, 28, is undisputedly playing the tennis of her life alongside Switzerland’s Martina Hingis this year. Besides holding an impressive record of 39-7 this season, the duo has pulled off two successive Grand Slam titles in US Open and the Wimbledon Championships 2015.
