Why Andy Murray thinks he should be in ‘Love Island’ with Stan Wawrinka

Andy Murray’s sense of humour has been developing on a daily basis, it seems.

The former world No. 1, who made his comeback last week after an absence of one year due to hip injury, earned a victory in a long time after defeating Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland 6-1 6-3 in the first round of the Aegon International in Eastbourne on Monday.

Murray later took to his official Instagram account to share a picture of himself with Wawrinka, in which they appear really close to each other during the handshake.

“Looking like we should be on #loveisland instead of a tennis court but it’s not how it looks,” he captioned the image to his 1.4 million followers, referring to British reality show Love Island.

“Was nice to get back out on the court again with @stanwawrinka85 today,” the Brit added of his Swiss counterpart, who, too, has been on a comeback trail from a long injury layoff.

“A lot has happened to both of us since we last played in Paris last year. Hopefully we are both through the worst of it.”

Murray, who is yet to confirm his participation for next week’s Wimbledon, is scheduled to lock horns with countryman Kyle Edmund for a place in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
