Nick Kyrgios has been in the headlines for more than one reason of late. Not letting his bad boy image get affected, the volatile Australian star has been at his controversial best all through this week’s Miami Open.

Besides having been involved in fights with spectators and chair umpires, Kyrgios has let his racket do the talking. Apart from his no-look shots and tweeners, the 23-year-old has made waves by unleashing underarm serves.

Although there’s no clear rule that doesn’t allow players to serve underarm, it’s largely considered to be against the spirit of the game.

Naturally, Kyrgios was subject to heavy criticism on social media after he unleashed the unorthodox service twice against Dusan Lajovic.

Judy Murray, British tennis coach and mother of Andy and Jamie Murray, took to her official Twitter handle to label Kyrgios a ‘genius’.

“The underarm serve. The whole point of tennis competition is to disrupt ur opponents game by applying pressure through changing the speed, spin, direction, depth or height of the ball. And that includes the serve. Kyrgios is a genius. I’m surprised more players don’t do it,” she wrote to her 247K followers.
